Children’s A&E Department Becomes 24-Hour Service
The specialist paediatric accident and emergency department at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington is now running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It means that sick or injured children are now guaranteed round-the-clock paediatric emergency care in their own department, adjacent to but completely separate from general A&E. The UK’s largest NHS Trust – Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust -launches today (1 October) through the merger of two of the country’s best hospitals and integration with a world-class university. Startling health divide between Westminster’s rich and poor
Women aged 65 who live in Little Venice can expect to live until they’re nearly 96, according to a report released by Westminster Primary Care Trust (PCT). In contrast, older women who live just a stone’s throw away in Westminster’s Church Street ward can only expect to live on average until they’re 79. Further towards the Thames, in Churchill ward, women aged 65 can only expect to live until they’re 77 – 14 years less than their Little Venice counterparts. Flu immunisation campaign kicks off at Soho Centre
Our flu vaccination campaign got off to a fantastic start with 35 local residents taking part in a Tea Dance at the Soho Centre for Health and Care. The dance, held on Friday 7 October and organised by the Soho Older Residents Association, combined music and dancing with a chance to have a free flu jab. New interpreting service for deaf patients

For the 3,000 Westminster residents who are deaf or hard of hearing, Westminster Primary Care Trust (PCT) has set up a British Sign Language (BSL) / English Interpreting Service to assist patients during appointments with their GPs or community services. Under the NHS (Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2005 all pharmacy contractors will be required to complete a Fitness to Practice declaration. Hand Hygiene Awareness Week
